都市を歩き、記録しているのか、構築しているのか——その問いに答えないまま、シャッターを切る。通行人は都市という劇場の登場人物となり、窓越しのシルエット、落ちた影、動く手の断片が、ひとつの詩的な物語へと編まれていく。都市の景観、セルフポートレート、そしてコラージュを融合させ、現実と記憶の境界をぼかす、夢幻的なイメージによって都市の詩的な肖像を描き出すファン・ライ。本展では東京の街そのものを、作品のあらたな舞台として取りみます。

Walking through the city, pressing the shutter—is Sarah van Rij documenting the city or constructing it? She leaves the question unanswered. Passersby become characters in the theater that is the city. Silhouettes seen through windows, shadows on the ground, and a fragment of a hand caught in motion—all are woven into a single poetic narrative. Blending urban landscapes, self-portraits, and collage, van Rij blurs the boundary between reality and memory to create dreamlike images that reveal a poetic portrait of the city. In this exhibition, Tokyo itself becomes a new stage for her work.
