Materialized Fiction begins with the question: “Why can’t humans eat electricity?” While we cannot consume electricity directly, images from anime, games, and films can become sources of energy in our lives. From this question emerge a series of “what ifs”—fictional characters given physical bodies and imaginary ecosystems made real. By printing photographs onto tanned leather, Nishimura materializes these possibilities, creating prototypes of possible worlds that shift the rules of reality and question what we understand as real.
