20年間住み慣れたイギリスを離れ、日本へと拠点を移す前に撮りたいと考えた場所。それは2022年に妻と訪れたアイスランドだった。同じ被写体、同じ車、同じルートを辿り、同じホテルに滞在するという、記憶をなぞるかのような旅。それは、過去の記録を現在に呼び起こすような、不思議な体験だったという。
「reincarnation」――転生、再来、再生という意味を持つ本展のタイトルには、写真に記録された過去が固定されたものではなく、新たな意味を宿し生まれ変われる「動的な記憶」であるという、写真の本質が示されている。

Before leaving England where he had lived for twenty years to return to Japan and establish a new base, Piczo wanted to photograph Iceland, a country he and his wife had visited in 2022. He retraced his memories of that trip, revisiting the same subjects, following the same routes in the same car, and staying in the same hotels. He has described it as a strange experience—as though the past preserved in photographs had been brought back into the present. The exhibition title, reincarnation—rebirth, return, or renewal—suggests that photography, in its essence lies not in preserving the past as something fixed, but in sustaining a living memory that continually takes on new meanings.
